The new version of the Residence Card will feature a simpler card face and enhanced security, with some information transferred to an IC chip, ensuring important details are preserved. Concurrently, eligible individuals may apply for a "Specific Residence Card," which integrates the Residence Card and the My Number Card. The application requires payment of an Immigration Bureau processing fee of JPY 1,900 and a J-LIS processing fee of JPY 600-800. However, those who are renewing their Status of Residence will be exempt from the Immigration Bureau processing fee. Applying for the Specific Residence Card is entirely voluntary.
